High Blood Pressure
LU-9 Taiyuan: This point lies at the outer (i.e. thumb-side) end of the wrist-crease. Stimulate point in a pumping manner for ab out 1 minute.
LI-11 Quichi: This point lies at the outer end of the elbow crease, when elbow is bent at a right angle. Support the elbow in the fingers and palm of the opposite hand. Press in deeply with the thumb for 30 seconds to 1 minute, applying sustained pressure or small massage rotations to the acupoint with relaxed, even breathing.
ST-36 Zusanli: Bend the knee joint by 90°. Now from the lower border of the knee-cap, move three thumb-widths downwards. You will be able to feel a pointed bone at this level. Point is located one finger-width to the outer side of this pointed bone. Apply firm deep strokes of pressure in downward direction during 1 minute.
SP-6 Sanyinjiao: At the inner aspect of the ankle joint is a prominent bone. Feel this and determine its tip. From this tip, move three thumb-widths upwards. Mark this level. Point lies at this level, just behind the vertical leg-bone. Apply pressure perpendicularly or use small massage rotations to the acupoint for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
SP-9 Yinlingquan: Bend the knee by 90°. From the lower border of knee-cap move three thumb-widths downwards. You will be able to feel a pointed bone at this level. From this pointed bone move backward along the inner surface of leg till you can feel the back-border of the leg bone. Point lies behind this back-border. Stimulate point in a pumping manner for a minute.
KI-3 Taixi: Observe the inner aspect of the ankle. You will see a prominent, pointed bone over here, called the medial malleolus. At the back of the ankle joint is a firm rope-like structure, called the Achilles tendon. Point is located midway between the tip of medial malleolus and the Achilles tendon. Place the fingers of the opposite hand behind the ankle for support and locate the point with the thumb. Apply pressure perpendicularly for a bout 30 seconds to 1 minute, using sustained pressure or small rotations angled slightly upward towards the shin.
LV-3 Taichong: This point is located two thumb-widths behind the skin-margin between the first (big) and the second toes. Place the fingers under the foot for support and apply acupressure to the point perpendicularly with the thumb. Take care to press in the hollow between the bones and tendons rather than on the tendons or vessels themselves. Use sustained pressure or small rotations. Apply pressure for 30 seconds to 1 minute, breathing evenly.
